My girlfiend Yulia and I took a long weekend at the end of May to go from SF to the eastside of the Sierras for a little dirtbiking and exploration...

First stop, Sonora Pass to play in the snow-

Then it was on to the ghost town of Bodie-

From Bodie I thought it would be a good idea to take a 4x4 road to Nevada in search of some sand dune riding, but instead I just beat up my truck and destroyed a tire-

We headed back in to Cali and camped in the hills below a mountain that looked like it had some sandy slopes for me to ride the next morning-

I woke up at 5:30 and headed out to explore-

After a long climb on loose 4x4 trails, I gained the top of the mountain above Mono lake. It was a great place to play around, definitely worth going back to-

Then we dropped down to Mono Lake-

And up to Lake Sabrina where Yulia sunbathed as I went out scouting for a good camping spot in the National Forest-

Once I found the perfect spot I went back to get her and the truck for our long bumpy ride up into the mountains, but it was worth it, a secluded peaceful campsite on a stream with no one around for miles-

There was a meadow there with a beautiful granite boulder to play on (this area had truck trails and cow patties around, so I wasn't pouching pristine wilderness)-

Such a great campsite, I collected wood and we made dinner-

The next morning I woke early to get some shots of the sun coming up on the mountains behind us-

On our way down we stopped at the Buttermilk climbing area for some bouldering, I worked the Iron Man Traverse, it had been 8 years!-

Then on to Convict Lake for a hike and swim-

After that I dropped Yulia off at June Lake, and I went to explore Obsidian Dome, it's a really wild place, and the riding is challenging, lot's of loose big chunky rocks that sounded like charcoal briquets as I rode over them-

Then it was back to the lake to get Yulia and jump on someone's slack line-

We headed back over to Sonora pass for one last night of camping before returning to SF, in the morning I stopped for a quick ride at Niagara Creek OHV area, this place is big for 4x4s, had a lot of rocky climbing trails, and a great granite play area that was amazing for traction, and ripping off my skidplate-

A great weekend in a small section of this amazing part of the world.
